Give Your Brain a Break

If 2020 was a year in which we were forced to pivot, readjust (whilst simultaneously staying relatively still), I feel like 2021 is the year in which our brains break. No? Just me? I might be creating some DRAMA for myself with this sentiment but bear with me.

We are more connected than we have ever been, and yet everyone is lonely. Loneliness has medically proven negative effects on our physical and mental health. If you work from home, there are hours and hours spent in the same spot, staring at the same screen. Alternatively, you're out in the (relatively desolate) world, going to work in a new landscape. Things are weird and getting weirder.

If our brains are perhaps breaking, I think it may be prudent to give our sweet little brains a break from time to time. Even if we only use 10% of the bad boys.

My favourite way to give my brain a bath is by shutting out the world and dancing around to a song for 3 minutes. I am always reinvigorated by it, especially when I feel like dog's dung.

Another way I like to do it is by cooking. I must confess: I'm a rather slow vegetable chopper. But there is something deeply therapeutic about standing in my kitchen, creating something that will feed me. So I lean into that. So I thought you, dear readers, might like to have access to a few ways to give your own brain a break.
